Riccardo Fioravanti started playing the electric bass on 1973, and burning the stages only two years later he was already in a recording studio as a session-man, and on 1976 he had his first tour as a professional with the rock singer-songwriter of the Milanese alternative area Alberto Camerini.
In the 70s it was born his passion for jazz, and he began his artistic training. He studies doublebass at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, while he performs in the historic Jazz Club "Capolinea" in endless, formative jam sessions with various groups. His career develops on parallel levels: the artistic sense, the great versatility and the high professional skills lead him to work in the jazz field with Giorgio Gaslini, Franco Cerri, Gianni Basso, Renato Sellani, Tony Scott, Gorny Kramer, Enrico Intra, Franco D'Andrea, Gianluigi Trovesi, Gianni Coscia and others, while having countless collaborations in the world of Pop Music.
In the '80s he played with the RAI Orchestra Ritmica and, in recordings and concerts, with many artists as Mina, Ennio Morricone, Mia Martini, Enzo Jannacci, Fabio Concato, Antonella Ruggiero, Ornella Vanoni, Amij Stewart and Nick the Nightfly, just to name a few.
In the early '90s he was among the members of the reborn Orchestra of the Sanremo Festival, where he met Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Crawford, Jorge Ben, Grace Jones, Ute Lemper, Kid Kreole, Sarah Jane Morris, etc ...
Collaborations of the same decade with musicians such as Bob Mintzer, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Clark Terry, Toots Thielemans, Kenny Barron, Slide Hampton, Charlie Mariano, Bob Moover, Barney Kessel, Ronnie Cuber, Jimmy Owens, Jesse Davis, George Gruntz, Bruce Forman, Francis Boland , Rick Margitza and many others. Participates in concerts of Ray Charles, Gino Vannelli, Sarah Jane Morris, Chico Buarque De Hollanda and Stevie Wonder.
The year 2000 is the year of the most radical turning point: from this moment he dedicates himself permanently to jazz, and collaborates in studio recordings and concerts with Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Flavio Boltro, Fabrizio Bosso, Pietro Tonolo, Gabriele Mirabassi, Sandro Gibellini, Stefano Bollani, Dado Moroni, Stefano Battaglia, etc ...
He has carried out, and currently carries out, an intense teaching activity, first at the CPM in Milan, then with the Nuova Milano Musica, the Civic School of Music of Castellanza, the ADAM of Milan and the CDPM of Bergamo.
He currently teaches ensemble music, double bass and electric bass guitar at the Accademia Del Suono in Milan and the Conservatories of Como and Cuneo. Its precise and full-bodied sound, and the great skills of interpretation have made it, over time, a valuable collaborator - in seminars and performances - of drummers such as Giampiero Prina, Stefano Bagnoli, Alfredo Golino, Christian Meyer, Ellade Bandini, Max Furian, Tullio De Piscopo, Lele Melotti, Walter Calloni, Adam Nussbaum, Joe La Barbera, Alvin Queen, Billy Cobham, Paul Wertico, Danny Gottlieb, Enzo Todesco and many, many others.
At the same time he develops his own projects and training in his name as In The Mood Of Chet, Bill Evans project and the Note Basse group.
