Australian Guitar reviews the Little Mark Tube 800 and Classic 152

Australian Guitar calls the Little Mark Tube 800 and Classic 152 "a match made in heaven"! Here are some excerpts:

“It didn’t take long at all for me to find tone that I enjoyed, like all the Markbass equipment I’ve dabbled in. The most fun that I had was playing with the tube and solid state blend while adjusting the gain pot. Doing this gave a range of slight overdriven bass sounds which I haven’t really come across in other Markbass products… Other than my extreme gain adventures, playing a Fender Jazz Bass through the combination left me with natural and true tones that seeped from the wood through the copper and paper to my ear drums. There was plenty of room to crank the volume without any distortion to fetter the majestic sound of my bass!

The role of the Classic 152 in this was to provide surprisingly clear and precise tone for 15 inch speakers. Larger speakers have a tendency to be muddy and unresponsive to higher frequencies, you have no idea how great it was to have the balls o f 15 inch speakers without the slop.

I’ve always liked the Markbass idea because through full tube rigs or hybrid/solid state amplifiers that colour tone, you never get to experience the true tones of your instrument, and let your own expression and attack do the colouring. The Little Mark Tube/Classic 152 matrimony is a match made in heaven, both equally successful in their own right, and only more powerful in union.”
