Dario Deidda and Markbass.

Feb. 5, 2019, 10:25 a.m.

Dario Deidda has been one of the very first artists joining the Markbass family in 2001, when the brand was a newborn in the business. Dario actually purchased a Parsek bass head a few years before – in ’99 – to go on tour with Pino Daniele and Pino himself was really satisfied by that amp tone and definition. It was one of the very first creations by Marco De Virgiliis.

Endorsed for many years also by R. Cocco Strings, Dario Deidda not only is one of the best bass and upright bass players in the world, he’s also a 360° musician, a real phenomenon whose talent is recognized worldwide. He won the “Best Bass Player” Jazzit Award 7 times in a row.

He boasts many collaborations with many Italian artists like Pino Daniele, Gegè Telesforo, Fiorella Mannoia, Carmen Consoli, Marina Rei, Laura Pausini, Elisa, Max Gazzè, Niccolò Fabi, Samuele Bersani, Alex Britti, Luca Carboni and also many international jazz artists like James Moody, George Coleman, Kirk Lightsey, Mulgrew Miller, Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Benny Golson, Johnny Griffin, Vinnie Colaiuta, Carl Anderson…just to name a few.

Dario and Marco have always respected each other and they met a few months ago at Markbass HQ where Dario had the chance to try some new 2019 products. He confessed it wasn’t excited that way by an amp for so many years and he wasn’t able to stop playing it. For those, like Marco, knowing Dario’s character very well, you know he’s a pretty straightforward person, not saying free or circumstances compliments… so they decided to create a new amp in the Gold series with a dedicated cabinet to enhance his playing, so classy and at the same time incredibly groovy and full of feeling.
