Nicknamed “Guitar Killer,” MASAKI began playing bass at age 15.
He utilizes multi-finger picking and diverse picking style, including high-speed three-finger picking, four-finger raking using his pinky, and sweeping with his thumb.
He also developed a unique bass style incorporating special techniques such as tapping and flamenco playing, earning him a reputation as one of Japan’s leading technical bassists.
After making his professional debut in 1993 with JACKS’N’JOKER, he continued to play in bands such as SHY BLUE, Animetal, CANTA, Jigoku Quartet, LIV MOON, and DAIDA LAIDA.
His bass instruction book, “Hell’s Mechanical Training Phrases,” a special edition of Bass Magazine, became a huge hit and became a series. He has also released five solo albums to date. Each album features a diverse cast of guests, creating technical instrumental solo works in the rock field.
